Cycle for Smart Works 2024

For many women, getting a job is a lifeline. It is a chance to escape poverty, gain financial stability and restore confidence. In the shadow of the cost of living crisis, there is an intensified need for the Smart Works service.

Smart Works is a UK charity that dresses and coaches unemployed women for their job interview. They give women the confidence they need to reach their full potential, secure employment and transform their lives. In the last year, 72% got a job within a month of their appointment.

Between 23rd February and 8th March 2024, I will be cycling to raise vital funds for Smart Works. I will be pedalling for a purpose and would appreciate every pound you are able to give to support this brilliant charity.

101 miles!

Thursday 7th Mar
So happy to say I have crossed my target this morning and hit 101 miles

Halfway There

Wednesday 28th Feb
Hit the halfway point this morning, my legs are feeling it so going to have a rest day tomorrow but so happy to have got to this point before the end of the first week!

First day - 10 miles down

Friday 23rd Feb
Bright and early start this morning to get my first days 10 miles in on my turbo trainer before work.

0 miles to 10 miles a day

Wednesday 21st Feb
So after signing up I realised I better dust off my turbo trainer & bike, pump up the tyres and get myself some training miles under my belt. Over the last 3 weeks I have realised how unfit I had got but happy to say I have managed to build up to my goal ready for the challenge of 10 miles a day! You certainly wouldn’t want to give me a hug after a training session, poor Eve and Reggie have to see that but it will all be worth it to raise money for this great cause!

First flat tyre of training!

Sunday 28th Jan
Well training has been going well until Friday morning when I found I had a flat tyre… on my turbo trainer :-D new inner tube ordered and fitted and training recommenced today!
